About
As a young girl growing up in rural New Zealand, I had little choice but to develop an active imagination! Anyone who has spent a number of years (especially childhood) in a town with little more than a gas station and dairy will attest to the importance of being able to craft your own world, all the better if that world contains dragons!
Growing up, I was surrounded by chickens, horses, sheep, cows, and the stunning New Zealand countryside. I have to wonder how much of this landscape made its way into the Calndom, and the farming communities on Laili Island.
I knew from a young age that I wanted to be an author, but societal cautions pushed me to pursue more “sensible” career options first. I studied graphic design and worked my way up the retail ladder, before finally returning to my passion for writing.
I now live in the Waikato, in a slightly larger small rural town, with my husband and two cats. Laili Island has been my escape for years, and its characters and secrets have helped me through some incredibly dark times. As I share this world with you all, I hope it brings you the same escape and joy as I have found over the years.
