Hiza Calndom is home to twenty distinct districts. They are divided into groups based on wealth and distance from the castle.
The castle and the noble districts are the richest districts in all of Hiza Calndom. The castle is home to the reigning royal family and the castle staff. Despite the small resident population, it has enough room to fit hundreds of dragons, something made clear at galas and balls.
The Inner Noble District surrounds the castle and is home to the five highest ranking noble families. These families tend to be smaller and have vast wealth at their disposal.
The Outer Noble District is home to the other forty-five noble families. Wealth across the families diminishes as rank decreases over time. They are also larger families due to their generations in the noble districts. Due to the slow change in rank, it would take about 1500 years for a family to go from 1st rank to 50th. Once the current High Caln passes and their family becomes 1st ranking nobles, the 50th rank family moves out of the noble districts and into the wealthiest citizen districts.
The ring of citizen districts encircling the noble districts belong to rich dragons and ex-noble families. There are four rich districts: Glass, Frost, Gold, and Silver. Each one is home to many influential and wealthy families. Furthermore, each district is named for what they are known for. The Gold District has the largest share of Hiza Calndom's gold, and several gold monuments across its streets. The Silver District has the most silver, much of which goes into jewellery and displays. The Glass District prides itself on all manners of glass. They are especially proud of their stained glass windows and murals, which can be found all over the district. The Frost District is known as the home of many wealthy Ice Dragons and artists. Their pride and joy is an art gallery with an entire section dedicated to ice sculptures and other forms of frozen art.
The middle class districts are home to roughly half of Hiza Calndom's population. The four districts here also have their own namesakes. The Gardens District is home to the Calndom Gardens, a place filled with many types of plant life. The Aviary District has a large aviary dedicated to the many species of birds that have been found on the island. The Rye District is home to many bakers and is known for its delicious rye bread. The Flax District is known for its weavings, flax work, and many other products made from the plant.
The next largest population belongs to those poorer than middle class. They live on the northern side of Hiza Calndom, furthest from the castle. Miller District is home to many grain processors and is the main source of processed grain for Hiza Calndom. Tressa District is named for the first leader of Hiza Calndom to use a surname, Tressa Hayward. Lenz District is likewise named for an ancient High Caln, but their true name was lost to time. Old Hiza, considered the first home of dragons on Laili Island, is filled with the oldest buildings on the island. Few buildings are added or changed here, and it's considered the most interesting district to visit for richer dragons.
The farming districts surround the rest of Hiza Calndom and are named for their geographical locations. The Northern Farms are considered the poorest and mostly feed the poorer districts. The Southern Farms, meanwhile, are the primary food source for the castle and noble districts. The Eastern Farms and Western Farms are the main sources of food for the rest of Hiza Calndom.
The Quarry is the last district. Although it's not considered within Hiza Calndom's borders, it is the only source of ore for the Calndom. Because of this, mining is one of the largest industries on the island.
The Flight Range isn't considered a district because no dragons live there, but it still has a name and gets visited from time to time by those wishing to practice their flight skills.
